Select Shades of Dance Legend Rio Collection

Hi Everyone! Today I would like to show you three shades from the Dance Legend Rio collection. These neon glitter toppers add a fun twist to any manicure. They look beautiful over both light and dark colors and I think can easily be worn any time of the year. No need to hide these away when Summer ends...

Rio 2 (layered over OPI Green on the Runway)
A clear base with neon green glitter in various shapes and sizes including star, square and hex. The base is a bit thick and doesn't want to let go of the glitter easily. I found it easiest to dab this on to avoid the glitter following the brush off the nail. There is plenty of star glitter to be found and I didn't have to do any fishing around for it. It does have a rather strong chemical smell which I have not encountered in other Dance Legend shades. Strong smell aside, the glitter mix in this is so adorable. I layered 2-ish coats over OPI Green on the Runway and I just love the result. Swatches are with a top coat...

If you like this mix, it also comes in neon pink (Rio 4) and blue (Rio 6)...

Number of coats: 2 (layered over OPI Green on the Runway)
Top Coat: Yes

Free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)

Rio 3 (layered over OPI Get Cherried Away)
A clear base with square neon glitter in green, pink, blue and orange. It is as though someone has sprinkled confetti over my nails. I love it! How fun would it be for an ice cream or cupcake manicure? The formula is similar to Rio 2, the base is a bit thick and has a strong smell. Once again I found it easiest to dab this on rather than brush it on. This is roughly 2 coats of dabbing over OPI Get Cherried Away. Swatches are with a top coat...

Rio 5 (layered over OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today)
A clear base with pink, green and blue neon glitter in various sizes including squares, hex and stars. Once again the formula is similar to the two above in thickness and smell. There is plenty of star glitter in this mix and you don't have to do any fishing around to get some for your manicure. I love the micro glitter in this mix which helps fill in the gaps and provides great coverage. I dabbed about 2 coats over OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today for this fun and vibrant look. Swatches are with a top coat...

If you like this mix, I would suggest you also check out Rio 1 which is a similar mix, but additionally contains orange squares and I think the glitter is in slightly different proportions.

  1. I have some of the same Rio's you feature in your blog post and noticed the rather strong chemical smell, while other DL polishes are just fine. Strange. I wonder, if you have have some of the strong smelling stamping polishes to compare.
